The House of Italy

Today Dennis & I, Mom, and Angie & Gary went to Balboa Park for the Italy open house. We examined the map of Italy and Sicily to locate the cities where our relatives were from. Afterwards, we visited the other houses in Balboa Park and ate an Italian sandwich (either sausage or meatball) in the park. Mom had her picture taken in front of Poland, where her relatives came from.

 

Dessert

Who else has a husband that can and will make a dessert like this one: a crepe filled with ice cream and topped with whipped cream and berries. Low fat, of course.

Movie Tuesday

After a week's hiatus, we went to the movies today and saw 42, about the life and career of baseball player Jackie Robinson. He had to go through a lot of discrimination to play baseball but ended up a sports hero. Very good movie. We took Uncle Johnny to see this movie because he had actually seen Jackie Robinson play football at UCLA.

Squirrel-Lee

This little guy was standing at the door just like this for about 5 minutes. I took a whole bunch of photos and he didn't move a muscle. Weird.

Boston Marathon

I didn't feel like posting anything yesterday while the horrific events were going on at the Boston Marathon, but neither do I want to just let it pass without saying anything. It's horrible. I can't understand how anyone could do like that. It's disheartening, depressing. I'm so sorry for all who were affected by the bombing in Boston.

Big Boy Restaurant Strawberry Pie

Local & Sweet STRAWBERRIES are here! Do you remember BigBoy Resturant? Here's the recipe for BigBoy Strawberry Pie:

2 tbsp. cornstarch
1 c. sugar
1 c. water
1/2 pkg. strawberry gelatin
1 baked 9 inch pie shell, cooled
Whipped topping

Blend together cornstarch and sugar. Combine in saucepan with water. Cook, stirring until thick 3 to 5 minutes. Remove from heat. Add gelatin. Stir until dissolves.
Mix berries in gelatin before placing in pie shell. Pour into pie shell
let chill 2 or 3 hours. Garnish with whipped topping. ENJOY!!!

Breezeway

We're finally getting a door in the breezeway so we can go into the cattery from the breezeway instead of having to walk through the house and around. It isn't finished yet.
