WHY are cats compelled to leave little (and sometimes disgustingly large) "presents" for their beloved owners...or should I say staff? Is it to repay us for filling up their cat bowl or to demonstrate what kind of food they'd really like to see in there? I don't have a clue, but I'm getting tired of finding dead bodies outside the kitchen door or INSIDE the kitchen.
Yesterday I found a tiny mouse on the doorstep followed a few hours later by three-quarters of a gopher on the kitchen floor. Uck. I HATE to pick up dead bodies. Uck, uck, uck.
I actually did "research" on the internet on the question of why do cats bring their catch to the house. Amazingly, there are a lot of posts on this question with answers including:
- they want to feed you
- they want praise
and my personal favorite ... they want you to cook it!
But the whole day wasn't consumed by dead bodies. Dennis and I prepared a barbeque dinner of filet steaks, roasted potatoes, and asparagus. Mom and Geno joined us and we ate outside in the patio. The dinner was really good.
