On Tuesday we saw Oz the Great and Powerful, the new Disney rendition of The Wizard of Oz based on the book by L. Frank Baum. This movie version has been updated for the times with lots of glitz and action in 3D at a matinee price of $36 for seniors. It was fun, but my favorite, of course, was the one I saw as a child starring Judy Garland and Toto. A lot was made of the 1939 movie, diced and sliced to determine the real message and symbolism (see http://wickedtour.net/symbolism-of-the-wizard-of-oz).
