Snakes!

I really hate it when snake season comes each year. It's that time now; Homero told me he killed a baby rattler next to our barbecue yesterday. Today, the dog trainer told me she ran over a long snake on the road in front of the barn. She thought it was dead because it wasn't moving, but when we went down to investigate, it was gone.

My sister tells me there is actually someone other than family who reads this blog. Huh. Who knew? So, because she likes the movie reviews, I'll try to do better with that.

Dennis bought an Apple TV device a while ago and we have been downloading the movies we missed at the theater and watching them at home. The last two we saw were Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy and The Iron Lady.

Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy (that's a mouthful) is the movie rendition of John le Clarre's second novel in a trilogy of cold war spy stories. The first novel was The Spy Who Came in From the Cold. Because I read the book, I enjoyed the movie; but I admit it was slow going and confusing if you didn't know the story. I was very disappointed in The Iron Lady, starring Meryl Streep. I love Meryl Streep and she was great in the role, but the story was a little weird and surrealistic. It is told by the viewpoint of Margaret Thatcher when she was very old and perhaps a bit senile. The story moves along with her conversations with her dead husband, who also is a bit weird. I think the story diminishes Margaret Thatcher, who I don't know much about, but she was Prime Minister of Great Britain after all.
