Movie Tuesday

McFarland, USA is about a high school coach who sees something special about a group of immigrant teenage boys attending McFarland High School. Before and after school, these boys work in the fields picking crops. They run to school in the morning and run back to the fields in the afternoon. Seeing the speed of these runners, the coach creates a cross-country track program and enlists the boys as team members. What happens then? You'll have to see the movie to find out. Hint: McFarland, USA is an inspiring, entertaining true story.

Movie Tuesday

Wow, I'm actually reporting on Movie Tuesday on Tuesday. After seeing American Sniper last week, we thought we'd go for a comedy so we saw Black or White starring Kevin Costner. The reviews weren't that good, but luckily we didn't read them before we saw the movie. We think it's a Go See.

Movie Tuesday

I know it's Thursday, but I'm late again in updating the blog. The movie for Movie Tuesday was American Sniper starring Bradley Cooper as Navy seal sniper Chris Kyle. The movie, directed by Clint Eastwood, gives us a glimpse of war and it's affect on soldiers. Chris Kyle was a self-proclaimed cowboy from Texas. After 9/11 he enlisted to fight against the enemies of the country in Iraq and became "the most lethal sniper in U.S. history."

We enjoyed the movie even though we already knew how it would end.

Movie Tuesday

The Imitation Game--what a good movie! The star, Benedict Cumberbatch. (no I didn't make that up) won a Golden Globe as best actor for his role in this movie. He played Alan Turing, the mathematician who tried to decipher the messages sent by Germans in World War II using the Enigma machine. This is a must see movie.

That's right, we saw Annie today with Jamie Foxx and Quvenzhane Wallis (Annie). Quvenzhane first starred as Hushpuppy in Beasts of the Southern Wild. She was adorable. She's still cute in Annie, but a bit older.

We enjoyed the movie but it wasn't the best one we've seen. The critics panned it, but it is okay as a kid's movie. A little less so for adults, but there's always the music.

Should you go see it? Mmmm, maybe wait for the DVD.

A customer asked me to make a chain for her pendant. I worked on it today and this is it:

Company for Dinner

We had company for dinner today...Gary and Carolyn Goldfarb ... and Mom, of course. Dennis made paella and green beans and I made a salad with strawberries, blueberries, mandarin oranges and walnuts. For dessert, Dennis made individual pavlova (meringue and fresh fruit) with whipped cream. The entire dinner was delicious and we had a lot of fun. I forgot to take pictures.
