Oscar Night

Dennis left for his ski trip on Sunday, so it was just me and Mom at the Oscars party. Mom made stuffed artichokes (yum) and I went to her house for dinner and a show--the Oscars. It was fun.

Next day -- Rain

Thursday, after Wednesday's snow, it rained all day. I just went out to check the rain gauge and it was frozen. There's a one-inch frozen cone in there.

Snowing Again

It snowed overnight and continues this morning. The sun peeks out every now and then, but then sees more snow coming and goes back to sleep. About the way I feel.

Movie Tuesday

Braving the threat of a major rain/snow storm tonight, we went to the movies and saw Safe Haven. A women runs away from her abusive husband and finds "safe haven" in a small North Carolina coastal town. And from there ....

I think we all enjoyed it. Although it's pretty much a girl flick, even Dennis thought it was ok. Not stellar, but enjoyable. I had listen to this story (by Nickolas Sparks) as an audiobook and I enjoyed it then, too.

On the way home we ran into rain all the way and fog at the higher elevations. Got home safe though.

Snow at Sandy Creek

I took these photos this morning. Looks like we got about 1-1/2 inches of snow. The weather report is for sunny days ahead.

I put some photos of Flash on his blog, too.

The cats were having fun with it this morning, too. Sammy was trying to reach the snow on the hammock. Precious-1 was playing in the flower bed and the other cats were running around and shaking the water off their paws. Precious-2 stayed inside.

Rain, hail, snow!

Mom and I left at 7:15 am for our doctor appointments in Carmel Valley. It was our first time there and the trip was a little harrowing. First, we drove through snow in Pine Valley, then followed the Prius's navigation system to the general vicinity of Scripps-Carmel Valley, then got stuck in a u-turn loop, not really knowing where we were going. We finally broke off and just winged it. Got there in time, of course.

On the way back, we ran into some heavy rain in Santee, so we stopped for breakfast. The rain let up and we went on to Pine Valley where it was still snowing. The Prius is not built for snow.

We got home ok and then it started hailing, followed by snow.

This is nothing compared to the East Coast, of course. They are really getting it with heaps of snow and very high winds. I wouldn't want to travel there right now.

Finally!

We watched the final episode of Season 2 Downton Abbey and were thrilled at the ending. I threw up my arms and said, "Yes!" When I looked at Dennis, he had tears running down his face. We love this program. Can't tell you what happened, though. Would be a spoiler.

Downton Abbey

Dennis and I have been watching Downton Abbey (or Dog Butt as Dennis calls it because it always starts with a picture of the dog's butt as he walks toward the castle). Anyway, we started with Season 1 and are now on Season 2, #7. We're hooked.

Movie Tuesday

I'd better do this now before I can't remember what we saw at the movies yesterday. So...

After seeing Gangster Squad last week, we sought a little balance by seeing Parental Guidance yesterday. Is anyone else tired of guns and violence? Anyway, it turned out that our choice of the day was pretty funny. Billy Crystal and Bette Midler, parents of Marisa Tomei, were the last choice for babysitters of their grandchildren, only getting the opportunity because no one else was available. Marisa was tormented by the idea of her parents babysitting because their idea of parenting was definitely not the same as hers. You get the idea..chaos ensued. Pretty funny.
