A Little Behind

Looks like I'm behind again. I missed posting yesterday, so I'll make up for it now.

Yesterday I had a hair appointment in the morning and Dennis had to go to the port in San Diego. Later, we met for our Friday "date." We went to a Greek restaurant in El Cajon for lunch. It was pretty good; we were both stuffed.

Afterward we ran some errands, picked up a lemon meringue pie at Coco's and went to Mom's for dessert.

It was a pretty good date.

50-50

I took 50-50 to the vet today so he could check her eye. Bottom line is she is blind in the injured eye. The two options are (1) do nothing or (2) remove the eye. I chose door number one. She doesn't have to have drops in her eye anymore; I just have to watch for signs of infection. Poor kitty.

Snakes!

I really hate it when snake season comes each year. It's that time now; Homero told me he killed a baby rattler next to our barbecue yesterday. Today, the dog trainer told me she ran over a long snake on the road in front of the barn. She thought it was dead because it wasn't moving, but when we went down to investigate, it was gone.

Who Knew?

My sister tells me there is actually someone other than family who reads this blog. Huh. Who knew? So, because she likes the movie reviews, I'll try to do better with that.

Dennis bought an Apple TV device a while ago and we have been downloading the movies we missed at the theater and watching them at home. The last two we saw were Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy and The Iron Lady.

Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy (that's a mouthful) is the movie rendition of John le Clarre's second novel in a trilogy of cold war spy stories. The first novel was The Spy Who Came in From the Cold. Because I read the book, I enjoyed the movie; but I admit it was slow going and confusing if you didn't know the story. You can go to http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1340800/ for a synopsis of the movie.

I was very disappointed in The Iron Lady, starring Meryl Streep. I love Meryl Streep and she was great in the role, but the story was a little weird and surrealistic. It is told by the viewpoint of Margaret Thatcher when she was very old and perhaps a bit senile. The story moves along with her conversations with her dead husband, who also is a bit weird. I think the story diminishes Margaret Thatcher, who I don't know much about, but she was Prime Minister of Great Britain after all. Again, you can go to http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1007029/ for more information.

No Movie Tuesday

Mom and I had to go to town today, but nothing good was playing so No Movie Tuesday. We were out most of the day doing errands. We finally went to the Lamps Plus store and Mom ordered two new lamps for her living room. They should be in by Thursday.

Sun-Day

The sun is out and life returns to normal in Southern California where it "never" rains. Dennis is leaving for his ski trip this morning. After the storms in California, he's hoping to have a good base of snow to ski on.

Snow!

By the time I typed "Snow!", it stopped. It's 37 degrees and raining, so we might get another spurt of snow, but it won't stick.
